STRATEGY
1. Increase franchise among professional motorcycle racing enthusiasts, with primary focus on males aged 18-34, through the development and strengthening of an image/ association between the Brand and the sport.
2. Based on first year experience in ???éČ??5, allocate funds as efficiently as possible focusing expenditures, where-ever possible, directly against the consumer.
TACTICS
1. The Series
Sponsor the CAMEL Pro Series consisting of 28 championship professional motorcycle races sanctioned by the American Motorcycle Association. CAMEL FILTER will award a total of $100,000 on the basis of accumulated points from Series events by the riders throughout the year. The awards will be split into two legs during the season with overall awards presented at the end of the season.
2. At the Track
a. Saturate tracks with banners and posters.
b. Assure adequate CAMEL FILTER and exclusive RJR product availability.
c. Obtain continuous Brand/Series identification over the public address systems.
d. Place a CAMEL Pro ad on program back covers.
e. Have Miss CAMEL participate in all ceremonies, along with hosting members of the press and VIP's.
f. Provide CAMEL Pro T-Shirts to ticket takers and concession personnel.
g. Provide CAMEL Pro patches/decals to all riders for their uniforms and motorcycles.
h. CAMEL Pro Series decals will be offered with a one-pack purchase where possible and will be passed out free in other cases.
3. Local Outreach
a. Schedule one B & W 600 line CAMEL Pro race ad for each race event in newspapers providing household penetration of 60% within a 100 mile radius of the track.
b. Schedule one B & W 600 line CAMEL Pro race ad for each race event in the regional issue of Cycle News covering that event.
c. Field Sales will place posters and banners in the area surrounding and feeding the tracks.
d. The Special Events Team will coordinate pre-race press conferences, PR releases, special promotions, etc., with local race promoters.
National Outreach
a. Schedule a P4C ad in the major cycle publications announcing the ???éČ??6 CAMEL Pro Series race schedule.
b. Provide the nations 6,000 motorcycle retail outlets with CAMEL Pro Series literature (posters, decals, information, etc.).
c. The Special Events Team and the AMA will concentrate on building support/publicity for the Series by the press and other major media.
d. The Merchandising Department will expand the distribution of CAMEL Pro Series premium items.
